How to Handle Our Past Mistakes

In my coaching practice, I find that quite a few women are living with regret and struggle to get over mistakes they’ve made in the past.  They constantly wish that they could go back and change the decisions that they made.  Many agonize over the amount of time they wasted with poor decisions.

If this situation resonates with you, today I want to share some truths that will instantly ease some of the pain you are feeling right now…

Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone!  If you were to conduct interviews with all the successful people you know, they would fill your notepad with many of the mistakes they made at certain points in their lives.

The key difference is they did NOT let their mistakes shape their lives forever.  Those mistakes taught them lessons, made them grow, and made them stronger.

Sometimes we may wish to go back in time and erase our mistakes.  But life is not that simple.  In reality, we cannot delete our mistakes.  But take a moment to reflect.  If we really take away those mistakes, we actually take away the very experiences that make us unique.  Of course, no one wants to sign up for mistakes, but like Tony Robbins said,

“Life is always happening for us, not to us.”

It is really about how we address those mistakes and what we are going to do with what happened.  How can we use these experiences to sculpt our souls, to become more, and to expand our reactions to future events?

We all have dreams and goals in life.  But if we use all our energy to focus on all of the things we’ve done in the past – we have no energy left to pursue our dreams and to live the life we want to have in the future.

So, if you want to achieve more results – in your romantic relationships, with your health, and in your career –

The best thing we can do is to begin a new relationship with ourselves…… a relationship that not only accepts our mistakes but also embraces and loves what those mistakes have given us and made us who we are today.

And if you want more confidence and energy to pursue your dream, instead of wishing that you had done something differently, you must learn to love who you are today…embrace your mistakes and every part of you.
